Proximal component
The proximal component consists of a 3D printed titanium alloy (TiAl6V4) with a titanium nitride ceramic coating on the articulating surface. On the bone side, the proximal components are coated with a double coating of pure titanium and tricalcium phosphate to enable the best possible osseointegration.
Distal component
The distal component is made of a composite material consisting of polyetheretherketone (PEEK) and an additional reinforcement with carbon fibers. This choice of material makes it possible to avoid large dimensions as well as thin-walled polymer components. On the bone side, the distal component is also coated with a double coating of pure titanium and tricalcium phosphate.
The HAPTic® system was developed in cooperation with Prof. Dr. Uwe Joosten (Marienhospital Osnabrück) and Dr. med. univ. Armin Zadra (Landeskrankenhaus Bad Radkersburg).
Compatibility
Both components are available in five sizes. The wide range of sizes allows preservation of the collateral ligaments by minimizing resection. Due to the highly congruent articulation, the selected size of the proximal component must always match that of the distal component.
