CARPOFIT®

Thumb saddle joint

The CARPOFIT® thumb saddle joint prosthesis was developed in collaboration with Prof. Dr. Uwe Joosten (Marien hospital Osnabrück).

The implant is used for cementless trapeziometacarpal joint replacement in cases of rhizarthosis or rheumatoid arthritis. The modular design and small diameter of the Pressfit cup results in a bone-saving restoration that can be adapted to the patient's anatomy.

10-Year Results
A study with 292 patients shows: 95% survival rate after 10 years, significant improvement in pain and function within the first 3 months. 91% of patients were satisfied or very satisfied after 10 years—a clear testament to the quality and reliability of the CARPOFIT® prosthesis!

HAPTIC®

Interphalangeal joint

The HAPTIC® system was developed in collaboration with Prof. Dr. Uwe Joosten (Marienhospital Osnabrück) and Dr. med. univ. Armin Zadra (state hospital Bad Radkersburg).

The implant is used for uncoupled cementless treatment of the proximal interphalangeal finger joint using a novel combination of materials. The wide range of sizes and the minimal resection required allow the collateral ligaments to be preserved. The stem-guided design ensures good bone anchorage.

Indications

  • Degenerative joint diseases such as osteoarthritis and avascular necrosis
  • Post-traumatic osteoarthritis and joint destruction of the finger MCP or PIP joints
  • Rheumatoid arthritis with low inflammatory activity and good bone quality
  • Painful, destroyed proximal interphalangeal joints
  • Advanced idiopathic osteoarthritis
  • Fractures unsuitable for treatment with other surgical techniques
  • Treatment Goals:
    • Pain relief
    • Restoration of function
    • Preservation of joint stability and mobility

Key Features

  • Cementless anchoring
  • Anatomical shape:
  • Shaft-based anchoring: simplified alignment and secure fixation
  • Symmetrical bicondylar contour
  • Highly congruent articulation
  • Innovative material combination

Materials

  • Proximal component: implatan® TiAl₆V₄ (ISO 5832-3)
  • Distal component: PEEK-C (polyetheretherketone with carbon matrix for reinforcement)

Coatings

  • Proximal component:
    • implaFix® cpTi coating on the bone side
    • TiN coating on the articulating surface
  • Distal component:
    • implaFix® cpTi and TCP coatings on the bone side
